Four Week Programs

Dates: June 20 - July 17, 2010
Price: $3100

Students attending for four weeks will spend their first three weeks in a Scholars or Kritik lab and will then transition to our skills session. Please see their respective pages for more information about the 3 week programs preceding the skills session. Students who have attended the skills session in the past have consistently indicated that the skills session was the most valuable institute experience they had in high school debate.

Designed for ALL LEVELS of competition and experience, the skills sessions successfully match students with competitors who will best maximize theirs skill developmetn. While each session will include focus on speaking skills, redos, and practice debates, sometimes students of all levels want to go "above and beyond" in order to enhance their in-round skills.  The Skills Session offers the unique opportunity to do just that through a series of 16-18 highly focused drill-oriented debates designed to develop a very specific and effective skill set.

On the Saturday transitioning to the Skills Week, students select partners in a typical partner preference system. Once partners are paired, students work together to develop an instructor preference sheet, whereby each instructor is paired with 1 or 2 teams to coach for the duration of the week.

The additional week of instruction will focus on practice speeches, rebuttal redos, speaking drills, and practice debates in order to adequately prepare students for the school year.  The unique approach to skill development offered during this session is certain to improve anyone's level of competitive success.

Consider that in one week of individualized instruction you will receive the equivalent of an entire semester of class time and competition. Don't let the competition get an edge - stay ahead of the game this summer!
