The Scholars Program

We are happy to announce the third class of Mean Green Lincoln Douglas Scholars in the summer of 2008. The students selected for this program benefit from the Mean Green Summer Institute for a number of reasons and are intricately involved in the educational mission of the program. These students will have the opportunity to debate against other scholars on a frequent basis. Rounds will be evaluated by different staff members resulting in comments and suggestions from diverse members of the staff. Top debaters will compete against other top debaters daily. These students will also have the opportunity to debate in front of the entire institute as an educational model. Additionally, these students will work in conjunction with recent high school graduates to put together a research packet to be shared by the institute. Third, these students will have a part of each day devoted to working with different staff members, engaging those faculty members in their area of expertise. We will select/offer spots to several students based on their success in 2007 and 2008. We will also take applications and select an equal number of Scholars from programs that might not have the name recognition to encourage a diverse pool.
