2012 Specials

Squad Discounts:

Students attending from the same squad are eligible for discounts at certain enrollment levels. Students debating with squads sending 6+ students in any workshop receive a discount of $100 each. Students with squads sending 12+ students receive a discount of $100 per week per students (as much as $400 off per student!).

Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds for discounts. If you believe you may be eligible for a discount, please pay only the deposit amount, and check with us before paying the balance.

Arrival & Departure Information

Check-in occurs from 10am-2pm in the dorm lobby on day one of each session.  For more information about our dorm location, please check for updates on our Frequent Questions page.  Arriving flights are requested to be scheduled to arrive between 8am and 2pm on the first day of institute!

Departure: Students must check out on the last day of their institute session by noon. We ask that parents arrive to pick up students between 7am and noon. Checkouts before or after this time frame are subject to a $100 fee. Departing flights should be scheduled to depart between 8am and 2pm on the last day of institute!

Early Departure: Because of the resources required to check out so many students early, we require a fee of $100 to check out students other than the posted times. We request you contact us to inform us of the departure at least 48 hours in advance.

Checkout During Workshop: Students may check out of institute with a parent or written designee. We request 24 hours notice for planned departures. We advise checkout during meal hours or Sundays between 7am and 1pm. Please see the FAQ for more information.

Payment Information

All payments are non-refundable.

Be sure to note the student's name in the memo line of all mailed payments.

A non-refundable deposit of $500 applies to your total amount due and is required within 2 weeks of the receipt of your application to reserve your spot. The remainder of your payment is due June 1.

You may check your payment status and history at any time by logging in and clicking "Register & Update."

Regular Application deadline for all workshops: May 31.

For all applications received after May 31, a $100 fee applies and full payment is due by June 13. Late Registration ends June 13 at NOON. No applications will be accepted after this time. Required Forms must be submitted by June 1. Please mail forms ASAP!

Credit card payments:

Students paying online are subject to the same deposit amounts and deadlines.  You may apply payments to your student account through the website.  Please feel free to call to make your credit card payment over the phone. All credit card payments are subject to a transaction fee of 3.5% of the payment amount.

Additional Information

Please make all checks payable to UNT Debate.  Be sure to note the student's name in the memo line of all mailed payments.

Students may not be admitted to the workshop at registration without receipt of full payment.

Returned checks are subject to the highest allowable fee. 

All payments are non-refundable.

Financial Aid and Scholarship Information

Financial Aid: very limited financial assistance is available for those who would benefit significantly from attending the workshop but would otherwise be unable to afford to attend. Individual awards are generally limited to $500. In order to complete an application, we request that applicants submit letters supporting the aid decision from the student, a parent/guardian, and coach. The letter from the parent should indicate the level of need (including an amount budgeted for workshop); the letter from the coach should indicate work ethic, leadership, and skill; the letter from the student should indicate why attending workshop is important. Requests for aid will be considered on an individual rolling basis. Requests completed by April 15 receive primary consideration, and all funds will be awarded by May 15.

UDL Discounts: Students from UDL programs receive discounts of 30% off the cost of tuition. This discount applies for any participants who currently debate at a UDL-member school regardless of who contributes to tuition payments. This may not be combined with any other discounts. Eligible schools should be reported by your local UDL director.

 

Transportation Details

During available windows, the institute will meet students and transport them from and back to either Love Field, DFW, or Greyhound Denton.  Students will be met in baggage claim by a staff member wearing an official institute shirt.  Be sure to log in after applying and complete the transportation portion of your application form. 

A $70 round trip fee and all necessary information are due by June 15 to secure transportation. You must either place a transportation fee in your store shopping cart and checkout with a credit card or mail payment to our address (here) by June 15 to be eligible.  Flights should be scheduled into DFW or Love Field (DAL) only. Please feel comfortable emailing your flight arrangements or calling on the day of the flight to confirm your child's made it safely.

*Due to the difficulty of meeting airline personnel at the gate, it is HIGHLY ADVISED that parents NOT send students as "unaccompanied minors" if given an option.

**Available shuttle windows:  Arriving flights should be scheduled for the first scheduled date of the workshop session to arrive between 8am and 2pm.  Departing flights should be scheduled to depart between 8am and 2pm on the last scheduled date of the workshop session.  There are no exceptions to this policy! 

Optional Fees

Transportation fee: $70 for shuttle transportation to and from the airport or bus/train station

Microwave or Refrigerator rental fee: $60 for the duration of your stay
